Nothing exciting happened this week

Nothing exciting happened this week, thank goodness !
Puppy play time. Oisin ("Oh'sheen") in the lead, followed by Maitias ("Mattias") and Bidelia ("Bi deal'ia").

The weather has been lovely, just like Spring is supposed to be. Low 70s in the daytime, mid 50s at night. You would not think this was Michigan in late May !

Rhianon continues to teach them how to be Irish Wolfhounds.

Sometimes how to look, sometimes how to fight (which they then use on each other).

As we said, nothing exciting happened this week, thank goodness.

Welcome

Welcome to the Hounds of Heaven WebLog. This blog replaces our Picture of the Week and gives us more flexibility to share what, if anything, is going around here.

We are just emerging from an ultimately unsuccessful 4 week attempt to save the life of one of the puppies in the St. Brigid's litter. Life is not good when you are spending half of it visiting a puppy in the ICU 90 minutes from home.

Breeding puppies is not all "puppy breath" and cuddles.

Puppy Maitias with his mommy, Rhianon

Sure, there are lots of cuddles and lots of puppy breath, but there is also hardship and sometimes unbelievable expense, all of which is part of breeding.

Did I mention there is not much sleep either ?

On the other hand there is the joy of watching your breeding decisions become life. Sometimes it works out better than you could have hoped. Sometimes, not so much. The St. Brigid's litter is one of the "better than we could have hoped" - so far, but it is way too soon to be sure. Stay tuned to watch them develop.
